Sardines have been sent to Brian Souter, the founder and board member of Stagecoach, by passenger group TrainSardine.org. The fish were sent following the results of the first rail passenger poll of 2009 which revealed that over 78 % of passenger travelling on the Liverpool to Norwich train line said they were unsatisfied or very unsatisfied with the service. This is the worst customer satisfaction results in the UK. In a second poll, over 65% of passengers also called for train company MD, Tim Shoveller, to resign.made in fuel and staff by running half length train services. More.. |

Brian Souter sent sardines as train company tops New Year poll for poor service |

New timetable causes misery Hundreds of passengers have been discovering that the new timetable means they can no longer get into work on time. Stafford has effectively lost its London route and Warrington has see its direct services halved. Once passenger said “I am amazed and infuriated by their revised timetable which has dropped the Bedford stop (the busiest station in the evening) from the busiest train of the day at 17:30 from St Pancras leading to massive congestion on the subsequent train at 18:00 (a whole 1 hour after the previous Bedford stopping train AND all prior trains throughout the day run at 30 minute intervals with the glaring exception of the one due at the busiest time of day, 17:30, astonishing).” Meanwhile some passengers are having to work round the system… “Due to the overcrowding and no guarantee of a seat, I now drive over the Peak District to Buxton and catch a train from there - busy, but always a seat. Also I avoid the £7 car park fee at Chesterfield (its only £1 at Buxton) and the train detour to Sheffield. Next: Matlock to Derby: since the local Council did away with free parking at Matlock and introduced parking fees higher than the train fare; many people drive to Cromford or Whatstandwell where parking is free. It used to be good to discourage car travel! The new hourly service to Derby should encourage more train travel but - half the trains don't stop at the free parking sites of Cromford & Whatstandwell.” |
